The Whitlam Institute within the University of Western Sydney is a dynamic public policy institute that commemorates the life and work of one of Australia's most respected Prime Ministers, The Hon. Gough Whitlam AC QC. In September 2001, Mr Whitlam opened his filing cabinets to the Whitlam Institute. This collection includes books, manuscripts, diaries, correspondence, papers, photos, press clippings and memorabilia gifted by Mr Whitlam and other donors. This nationally significant Collection has been catalogued and digitised and is available as an e-collection for researchers, scholars and members of the public. Here you will find a wealth of online information to help illuminate the path of modern Australian democracy. As we digitise more of this unique collection of Australian social and political history, it will provide an extraordinarily rich and diverse overview of Australia since the early 1940s.
